Haitian artisans
Haiti is famous for it’s colorful naive art, but also for its handicraft.
Iron, straw, horn, wood, stones : in Haiti every material can be
transformed into artwork.
SUD&CO works with several independent artisans in a real partnership.
Each of them is an expert in a different material, horn, bone, coconut or
river stone.
Artisans from Port-au Prince work with SUD&CO to transform horn, bone and
coconut to make our pendants, bracelets, rings, earrings, belts etc…
Stone carvers from the South are specialized in the making of the river stone
pendants.
Artisans located on the north coast are working with seashells, straw and wood.
Hiring other workers
is common practice to deliver the production.
In Haiti, around 10 persons rely on one worker : giving work to one means
feeding a whole family.
